Monday - I decided I just had to try to redeem myself after the disaster last time I wore this skirt. I have 2 denim "blazer" type jackets. I just picked this one up at the thrift store on my last excursion. I think it is OK like this...what do you think? I have never tried this type of jacket with a skirt.
Tuesday - My BR suit i got on ebay last winter. I had to get it altered quite a bit - both the jacket and the pants. I was sort of stary eyed when I found the suit on ebay. I thought "oh my...what a great deal on a Banana Republic suit". I could never afford to buy one new so I was quite pleased. When I got it - the jacket was really boxy and the pants were actually TOO SHORT! I am 5'3, so believe me, it was shocking! The tailor added lace to the bottom of the material and was able to then hem them to a great length. Wednesday - A very daring move for me...I actually wore white after Labor Day. A big deal for me : ) I always thought of this as a summer skirt, but I really wanted to wear my pink scarf so I gave it a whirl. No one badgered me or anything for commiting what they still believe is a big Fashion Faux Pas! Thursday - HO HUM...this is a very boring outfit. Not very imaginative. I have had this scarf since the late 1980's. It just looks dull. The pants are navy cords. I do love the shoes - they are red Sofft with a cute little flower across the vamp. Friday...well, I don't have much of an explanation for this one. Really dull. I must not be doing something right when I wear pants. I didn't remember this jacket had 3/4 length sleeves until I put it on which was when I was on my way out the door to go to work. But of course, had time to take a photo : ) ...so I can remember my bad selection!Click here to go back to Angie's forum http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/oufits-from-the-week-trying-2-redeem-myself-from-a-previous-disaster?replies=1#post-102945
Thanks!
Hi YLFers,
A couple weeks ago I posted photos of some potential outfits. A few gals requested a tutorial on how I knotted my scarf. I completely cracked up, because this is the first time in my life I have worn a scarf for decorative purposes! I tried the "Angie Knot" and was not at all successful. I ended figuring out my own way to tie it and it is pathetically, crazily EASY!!!!!! Seriously...I am almost embarrased to post the photos. But since you gals were nice enough to comment on it...well here it is.
My scarf is about 66 inches long and maybe 20 inches wide. I rolled lightly rolled it like this:
I wrapped it around my neck, so the ends crossed over behind my neck and hung down the front (please excuse how I look!)
I slightly re-rolled the hanging down piece:
The hanging down piece then is put over and through the loop around my neck
Repeat on the opposite side.
And viola...

I wore this outfit to work today, before I read Angie's blog post on wearing patterns. I would like some feedback please. This is a combination I would never ever had put together before I started reading YLF. Maybe I didn't do a great job - but it felt good to be outside my normal "box" and try something a little funky and fun. Any feedback, advice is very much appreciated!

Something else I wanted to share...since I have gotten so many hints and tips from all of you...
I don't have enough disposable income to buy lots of fun purses/hand bags. I have one large black bag with white trim. It is rather bland looking - so last year I came up with a fun way to add some interest. I weave a fun, colorful scarf thru the handles/hardware. I have a black trench that I wear this time of year - so this little bit of color really helps an otherwise drab ensemble.
Hi YLF gals,
This is my first attempt at submitting photos for critique. Believe it or not, my hobby is photography and you sure would not know it from these photos! They really stink!!!
I am not sure if the combintations I have here are acceptable or not. The first one is a dressier skirt, and I have paired it with a pink short sleeve sweater that I left untucked, I have added a light brown twill type blazer and lime green scarf. This is also my first attempt at wearing a scarf! Is it too overwhelming? Any advise and critique you can provide would be great (back on the forum). I didn't have my shoes at home (I leave most of them at the office so I can wear my tennis shoes to work - I know that isn't very stylish!). I would be wearing brown mary-jane type heels with this outfit.
Another view:
This is a wrap dress that I paired with a denim jacket. I would also wear a short strand of larger size pearls and black mary jane type heels.
The next one is a black dress with small embroidered flowers. I paired it with a white cardigan, black belt and pink scarf. I think upon reflection, the dress is probably too short for work, but I would still like feed back on the ensemble even though I won't likely be wearing it to work until later on this summer, at which time the scarf may be too much. This one would also be worn with black heels.Again, sorry about the crappy photos! I do much better with landscapes!!!
