I took almost 90 photos yesterday. I have only had time to look at a few. So far, this is my favorite.
I didn't even have to crop this...this is exactly how I had it set up on the LCD screen. I did alot of playing with the software to get the colors the way I wanted them. I wish there was a bit more light on Hannah's face, but I love it all the same.Sorry if I have been out of touch this week...it has been hellish busy.
We went to Ellie's wake and funeral this week so that always throws a kink in our routine! They were both very nice, quite sad...but now she is at peace...and with her husband Mike. He died only 5 months and 1 day before her. She looked very much like Bruce's mom laying there in the casket. I never knew Donna, but I have seen many photos. I think Bruce, Bonnie and Brian were all a little...not freaked...not uneasy...Well..somewhere in the middle of that. I can't think of the right word.
It sure was a busy week. I guess I knew I would have extra stuff to do because of being off last week, Wed-Fri. But...wow, I am still trying to get caught up. I stayed at work until 5:50 on Friday night trying to finish up as much as I could. Then I checked my incoming mail and found more stuff! Oh well...earning my pay I guess!
Yesterday I went and took photos at my friend/co-worker and new mother Denise's house. Another friend/co-worker, Tim came with and we got to see her house for the first time, and also visit Denise, her husband Dan and their beautiful daughter Hannah who was born on 2/20. First off...what a house! It is fabulous. Right on the lake (the same lake as Mike and Peggy's cabin). And, Saturday's temps were fantastic...(so, I always think even normally un-stunning settings are enhanced because the sun is shining!) But this house was truly fantastic with lots of windows on the lake side and the sun was just beaming in. Beautiful wood laminate floors...but very different wood. I don't know what it is called, but it sort of looked burned or burnished. I will have to find out the name. I took lots of photos of the baby, but I am not sure how much of the house and furnishings got into the pictures.
I am still taking my photography class. It has been hard for me to fit in the lessons. I get a new lesson on Wed and Friday each week. It consists of reading about 10 pages of instruction a quiz and assignment. The assignments are mostly for our own benefit I think. I don't think I have to turn them in. At the end, our final assignment is a portfolio and that does need to be turned in. Last week when I was off Wed thru Fri I didn't take the time to do the lessons because I was busy doing all those digital layouts. So, I figured I could do them at work during my down time...well...no downtime this week! Then I got 2 more lessons this week! Luckily, Friday's lesson was about taking portraits. I learned some pretty cool tricks that I was able to at least THINK ABOUT when I was taking pictures of Hannah...but it is hard to ask her tilt her head because the lighting is better!!! I am anxious to work on the photos with Paint Shop Pro. I am going to design an announcement for her. I made the Thank You Cards for her. She went thru all 100 cards! She has had to order more cards from Current!
I am not sure how I am going to do her announcement. I am thinking of printing a 4x6 and somehow use that. Maybe attach it to card stock and add a velum overlay with the text. Of course, I could do all of this digitally and then just print that...hmmm..have to keep thinking about it.
I am working on layouts today. And will try to get a few photos of Hannah edited as I know there are a few people at work who are anxious to see them.
