Happy Anniversary to Bruce and I. Seven years ago today Bruce proposed to me out at St. John's. We celebrated this day instead of a wedding date...I didn't want to get married! A never-ending engagement period was fine with me! I was so happy just living together, and I didn't want anything to change...(been down that road before!) But life stepped in and we decided we should "just do it." We did and I have never been happier.
Here is a recent photo of my fabulous and hot husband! I love you honey!
Yesterday, Bruce and my dad went to an auction. It was bank seized items. They looked around at the stuff and came home. Later on, after my mom and dad left to go back to the V's for the week, Bruce went back up there.
Many of the items were sold way under retail value. A Jenn Aire Double oven with a convection and conventional oven...normal price would have been $2,500 and it went $625. Gas cook top with 5 burners went for $60. Five horse gas generators $90.
Bruce hung around for the hot tubs...hoping the prices would be as low.
You know how it is when you are bidding on something and you get caught up in the excitement. That has happened to me a few times on ebay. Two guys were bidding against each other for a 2 person spa...and it was going to go cheap...so Bruce jumped in so it would go higher. He bid $50 over what one of them had just bid...and guess what...they stopped bidding!
So we are now the proud owners of a 2 person spa!
Bruce has such buyers remorse!!! Not that it wasn't a great purchase...but I don't think he intended to actually win! Now he feels bad and is afraid I am mad at him!!! Heck no...how fun is this going to be? He plugged it in last night after he and Josh got the pool drained. All they had to do with put the tub in place, fill with water and plug it in! This morning it was already 95 degrees. And if we move, it can go with us...and the color of it is the exact color of our house. (not that garish blue pool! HA HA) It didn't come with a cover, so we will have to get one. For now a tarp and ratchet strap works just fine!
There is a warning that says you can't leave the spa in direct sunlight without water in it or it will melt the inside! Must be somewhat efficient. Bruce has wanted a hot tub since I have known him...so I am glad he finally got it. Even if he just got caught up in the moment...hey, at least it wasn't a Harley auction!
A few weeks ago Josh was mentioning to us that he thought it would really be great if we got a pool. He kept telling his dad about the dimensions of the one that was on sale at Target, what was included, how much fun it woudl be, etc. I didn't think Bruce would cave, but he did. He got the $40.00 blow up pool from Menards, it is 10 ft. in diameter, has a pump... the pool would be awesome...if it had a heater!!! Bruce filled it with the water from our sand point well which draws water from close to 30 ft below ground, it is near the freezing temperature. We have had some pretty hot temps lately, but it just isn't warming up the water enough for me.
We got a solar cover, but I think the sun has to actually hit the solar cover to be effective. We thought it would be perfect on our patio. I never even thought about the little bit of sun that hits that area.
So, Saturday, when it was near 100 degrees, with tropical dew points, Bruce braved the cool waters and got in. I had thought about it, because it was really, really hot and I knew Bruce would be happy if I joined him. But unfortunately for him, I heard him as he was very slowly getting into the pool. He was nearly shreeking! It didn't take too long for him to get used to the temps. His te$ticles decended and he ended up enjoying the pool quite a bit.
It is too bad we didn't put it in a sunny part of our yard, but we thought it would be nice in this spot on the patio given the spectacular views.
At this rate, it will be Labor Day Weekend before I can get in it! But, at least Bruce has company!
Just kidding...aren't I getting creative with my photoshop skills?
UPDATED: Monday night - edited to add Susie's photos.
Sandy, Karl and the girls came up on Saturday. Sandy and Karl left the girls with us to go out for lunch and to go furniture shopping. Josh and Malorie were there so we had a really great time. Of course, right away Lydia wanted to play hair salon, so Malorie and I took our turns getting our hair done.
Rachel loves to use the blow dryer...and she also loves to put eyeshadow on my arms!
ETA: I had put the shower cap away after last visit and out of the blue Rachel said "shower cap?"...she has a good memory!
After Rachel's nap we all went to St. Ben's to check to see if the fish were back yet (no, they are still in Florida). "The boys" and Lydia all rode their bikes. Lydia could ride "super fast" and even beat Bruce with how fast she could go, even with the training wheel still on! We stopped at the park on the way back from St. Ben's and the girls had a wonderful time. They both warmed up to Josh so much it was unreal!
He helped them on the monkey bars, sliding down the pole, and he and Rachel rolled a tennis ball back and forth to each other thru the tunnel.
Bruce had to leave the park to start dinner...it was his birthday dinner...but he got stuck making most of it. The rest of us stayed at the park for a long time, and then walked/biked home.
When we got home, Sandy, Karl and Bruce were on the patio visiting.
While Sandy and I finished up the dinner, the boys were told they had appointments at the hair salon!
We had spaghetti, garlic bread and salad for dinner and Lazy Daisy cake for dessert. I put birthday candles on the cake
and the girls helped Uncle Bruce blow out the candles.
I will have more photos to add later...these are all Malorie's shots. THANKS FOR SENDING TO ME SO FAST MALORIE! It was a really fun day.
We had a nice night last night because we got an unexpected visit from Josh and Malorie. They came to town to go out to dinner and stopped by for a visit. It was fun and we had some good laughs! They are coming down for the weekend, but have lots of things planned, so we won't be able to spend much time with them, so it was nice just to have the time to sit and visit.
They brought some ice cream with them for dessert...and it just might be Bruce's new favorite flavor.
That is right KEMPS COTTON CANDY ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't try it, but Bruce said it was delicious! In fact when the kids were leaving to go home I reminded them about the ice cream in the freezer...you should have seen Bruce's face when Josh took it out of the freezer. He got this very sad, pouty look...they left it for him!!! There were 2 bowls in the kitchen sink this morning (and I had put all the dishes in the dishwasher before I went to bed)...so I think Bruce must have heard it calling his name during the night.......a COUPLE TIMES!!!
