Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Bruce and I took Boo to the vet today...very reluctantly on my part as I didn't want to face what we might find out and what decisions we might need to make...but the news wasn't dire. Boo has megacolon (click on the word to read the wikipedia definition). They are going to give him fluids, stool sofeners and enemas...THE POOR BABY. They will call Bruce tomorrow after they take another x-ray, if he isn't all cleaned out, they will give another enema...but hopefully, then we can bring him home. It is something that can come back (or maybe never goes away)...but the enemas will clean him out and then hopefully with a high fiber diet and moist cat food, not dry it won't come back. I am also going to try some pumpkin. I know Boo loves my Holiday Pumpkin Cheesecake...and it is low fat/calorie...so it would be good for us to have around as well!! I hope Boo is resting comfortably right now...and not scared.
Last night, my cat Boo slept next to me almost the entire night. This is only the 2nd time he has ever done this. The first time was probably only 2 weeks ago. I have had Boo, and his sister Bear since September 1993, and they were 4 years old when I got them. I think Boo is nearing the end of his life here on earth which makes me very, very sad. He has cataracts and I think is partially blind. We have moved one of the litter boxes upstairs for him. Over the weekend I noticed that he was peeing in the living room, and Bruce figured it was because the steps are too hard for him. He has gotten very, very thin...mostly bones...but he still purrs, and he still meows and still seems really happy to see us. Both Boo-Boo and Bear have been with me through so many things, they have both been wonderful companions. I hope Boo will be around for a while, but if life gets too hard for him, I will have to let him go, right now though...I am so very thankful to have him around and I have been blessed to have spent the last 13 years with him!
