Happy Anniversary to Bruce and I. Seven years ago today Bruce proposed to me out at St. John's. We celebrated this day instead of a wedding date...I didn't want to get married! A never-ending engagement period was fine with me! I was so happy just living together, and I didn't want anything to change...(been down that road before!) But life stepped in and we decided we should "just do it." We did and I have never been happier.
Here is a recent photo of my fabulous and hot husband! I love you honey!
I had my first attempt at a family photo shoot last evening. A friend/co-worker and his wife had a baby girl on June 9th. I always wanted to offer to take photos for my "baby gift", but didn't have the nerve until a few weeks ago. I told him that it was hard to offer someone a gift where they are going to be "guinea pigs!"...but that they were.
I went to their fabulous home after work yesterday. I took quite a few photos...but it seemed to get dark too quickly, my camera didn't seem to be working properly, the flash didn't seem to automatically fire which made the pictures a bit too dark and not as sharp as I would have liked or expected. My old camera never seemed to have this issue.
Their 2 year old son C was a trooper...we went to the park near their home and he wanted to stay and play. He certainly kept me running. I am thinking...possibly I should have used a more sedentary subject for my testing phase!
I was so bummed when I opened the initial photos last night...I was really disappointed in the quality and clarity of the images. I did my tweaking in PSE, but it still didn't seem to be what I was hoping for. I am still not certain if it was the poor lighting, camera malfunction, my inability to capture enough good images. Maybe it was having a "moving target" as a subject, whatever it it, I was truly disappointed with the pictures. I thought about just telling them that my memory card didn't record the images and I had nothing.
I talked to my friend Jennifer who was really encouraging as usual, but I got a wonderful "pep talk" email from another friend/co worker/charter member of my fan club, Judy. She wrote me such a thoughful and inspiring email. She is always so full of encouragement and praise. I decided to give it another whirl.
I took another look at the photos when I got home tonight and thinking...well...maybe if they are making a collage for their Christmas card and the photos won't be enlarged a great deal...maybe I could make something work.
I am a lot happier with these than I was last night. I think adding the border and logo made them look more professional and thus...maybe a little better! I decided today that portraiture is probably too stressful for me! I will stick to landscapes that way no one is counting on me to capture something important!

Still not exactly what I was hoping for...but not as bad as I feared. I guess I won't be listing my camera on ebay!
Bruce and I went out last evening to take a few more fall leaf photos...most of the trees look past their peak...but we got some wonderful sunset photos. Slide show - click here . It was a gorgeous evening...today my mom is going with Lydia and her preschool on a field trip to an orchard! The weather should be wonderful for them! I hope mom gets lots of photos with her new camera we got her form her b-day!
Bruce and I both took today off work to spend it with my mom and dad. They had predicted rain, but we lucked out and it didn't rain until after we got done with our FIELD TRIP!
We went to Quarry Park - I have lived in Central Minnesota for 13 years and have never been to Quarry Park. It was really fun and very pretty...the purpose of the field trip was for me to take more photos!
After the beautiful walk thru the park, we did a few errands and stopped for lunch. We got home and within 30 minutes it was DOWNPOURING!!! We got a lot of rain. I edited photos ...you can see the slideshow from Quarry Park here. Then we played cards for a while...it was a fun, relaxing day...and I got some more neat photos!
My mom and I went to St. John's on Saturday to take some fall color photos. We had a great time and got some fantastic photos.
you can view a slide show here.
September 23, 2007 we celebrated my Uncle Jerry and Aunt Marilyn's 50th Wedding Anniversary. I took lots of photos, some turned out and some didn't. I am not sure if it was too much light or if I accidently had the camera set wrong at some times. Here are a couple that turned out cute...
you can view the rest of the photos in a slide show by clicking here.On Saturday, Bruce and I went to Osakis to Brian and Beth's new house to help paint before they move their stuff in. Reid and Ali weren't there yet, so during a break, Cody and I walked to the park. A few new friends that he has made came to the park when they saw him there.
Keisha was just a doll...she was running all over the park trying to avoid getting her picture taken. And of course I missed a zillion cute shots of her because I am still getting used to my new camera.
But...I did manage to get this one...which is my favorite from the day:
Bruce and I went to St. John's this morning to test my old camera (Canon sd800 is) and my new camera (Canon s5 is). This is the old camera:
This is the new camera: This is old: These both are new. The second one is cropped even closer. The batteries in the new camera DIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I wasn't able to take any more photos with it...because I didn't bring any extra batteries. This camera takes 4 AA batteries. The old camera has a rechargable...and I charged it before we left home. I didn't think to take any new AAs because I hadn't taken very many photos. I had the camera on a long time because of needing it on to follow along with the manual. So in that regard, the new camera wins. But as far as the photo quality goes...you probably can't tell on any of these photos a difference in quality, but when I zoom way in on the computer I can see a difference, and happily the NEW CAMERA WINS! You might notice the colors are a bit warmer with the old camera because I have that one set to VIVID colors, and I forgot to do that with new one, but I can. I would like to take some face shots to test it...
One last photo...this is with the old camera...that was still working! I am glad the new one works as good or better. With the awesome zoom I think it passes my test and I will keep it. I love the portability of the old camera and will still carry that one wherever I go!
