Thrift Store Finds
Last Friday, I had the day off and went shopping at Savers and Treasure Chest. I got some fantastic deals. I was pretty excited by what I found...
Banana Republic Silk Skirt $5.00
This skirt is really pretty, the colors are really different, for me anyways!
Also, I am not used to this cut of skirt, it is A-line (at least that is what I think it would be called!) I wore it last week with a rust colored button down and this cute denim jacket I got a few weeks ago at the Clothes Mentor, which is a consignment shop. It was only $14.50 or something around that price.
I love the back of this jacket.
Some other fun items I got last weekend - Old Navy rain coat $7.20; Lauren silk blouse $2.45, lime green and rust button downs $2.50 & $3.50; Urban Apparel Black lace cardi/top $4.
This black and white polka-dot skirt is really cute. It has cute flower appliques sewn on. I got it for $2.50. I also got an Ann Taylor skirt - black with cream flowers w/ blue centers $2.45; I am not sure if I can pull off the black, pink and white skirt. It is full on the bottom. I know I would need to wear something more fitted because it is fuller on the bottom right? But would a belted cardigan be OK or does it need to have something tucked to show the pink bow trim?
I am really building a fun wardrobe! I have never had this many brand name clothes in my life! For me, an average brand was Merona! Not that there is anything wrong with that...(thinking of Seinfeld!!) but it is fun to be able to add so many items to my wardrobe without breaking the bank and its kinda ECO friendly too.
Also, I finally know what they mean by shopping your own closet(s) - I have my clothes spread out in 3 small closets! I pick out a bottom and then go pick a couple tops that would work. Jan. 2008, I had one pair of really nice black trousers, size 16. I would wear the same black trousers everyday, M-F and had 5 tops (one for each day).
I dressed to blend in; I am not saying there is anything wrong with size 16...but I am only 5'3, and it was impacting my health or for sure my well being. Who am I kidding? It is because i had my 25 year class reunion last year...I am on the 5 year cycle. I always take off weight for my reunion. So...now, about 16 months later...I am down to a 4! I feel so much better!
For all of you who are going to ask how I did it...I wish I could tell you I took a "magic pill or magic potion"...but I started eating better and moving more. No fast food : ( and I work out a minimum of 5 days a week. Sadly, I have done this 5 other times in my life. I have been on this roller coaster since about 4th grade! Maybe my new found passion for thrifting will keep me motivated!
Anyways, if you can give me some advice about what to wear with the pink, black, white skirt, I would appreciate it!
Enjoy your day : )
